Should there be corporal punishment at school?
I hear stories about canning and the respect they had for their teachers back then was nothing like todays where there is no respect, give reasons for your answers.

I am not one for smacking a child so on that front my answer is no, but then I listen to stories from people that have had the cane across their knuckles and they have said they never went back for it again.

It would deter them anyway from bad behaviour! But am totally against violence to children and think it would cause a-lot of fear amongst them which isn't a good thing. Kids do seem cheekier now and it is very hard for teachers to control them. Would rather see them getting punished in a way that they can learn from it and it be beneficial to them. They are young and impressionable, if you hit them it teaches them that it is alright to hit others.

A lil bit of caning never hurt anyone. I dont think any law prevents physical punishment to children although what may be "a reasonable punishment" may depend on the case.

In the UK you can get sent to prison for hitting a child now even your own children!

UK is one of the 5 countries in Europe who have NOT banned smacking. They still allow 'reasonable punishment.

I particularly support the carrot & stick approach to everything. Without either, the impact of the other is negated. You dont always have to smack them, but the threat of smacking is more than suficient to instill discipline a child.

Yep you don't need to if you bring your child up right.
